Understanding and recognizing personal triggers will help you design a strategy for yourself or those you deal with to reduce anxiety and avoid a catastrophic reaction.

Deborah Lipsky, M.Ed., offers a rare and one-of-a-kind viewpoint from someone who lives with autism on a daily basis. She will provide you with a rare peek into the neurological processing peculiarities of an individual with autism and explain the physical and mental processes of a meltdown through a combination of personal experiences and professional expertise. Deborah Lipsky, M.Ed., is a skilled presenter who travels around the United States and Canada giving seminars, lectures, workshops, and keynote addresses on understanding autism from the inside out. She received the Autism Society of Maine’s outstanding volunteer award in 2005, and the Temple Grandin award in 2006 for “great accomplishment in her life, therefore becoming an encouragement to others.”

Mrs. Lipsky became a worldwide bestseller with Managing Meltdowns (2010), a book based on her S.C.A.R.E.D. model, an intervention guide full of tactics to assist first responders and anybody observing a catastrophic reaction by an individual with autism (meltdown). The focus of her second book, From Anxiety to Meltdown (2011), is on understanding anxiety and how it effects thoughts and actions in people on the autism spectrum. It is also the first book to distinguish between tantrums and meltdowns and includes several tactics for dealing with each. Mrs. Lipsky also contributed to the book “Autism All Stars,” edited by Josie Santomauro and published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, and is featured on the cover. Tau Publishers launched her third book on the nature of demons and spiritual battle in the fall of 2012. Mrs. Lipsky’s fourth book, How Individuals with Autism Grieve and How to Help (2013), is a candid, first-hand account of how people with autism cope with the loss of a loved one.

Mrs. Lipsky and Temple Grandin were featured in “Making Our Way,” a documentary produced by Dan Lambert for Maine Public Broadcasting Television. “Living with Autism,” a documentary about her life created by Dan Lambert, was released in 2015 and is now available on DVD.
