The Elegant Design Principles

Nature will uncover her veil for those who know how to approach her, presenting a wonderful system of subtle aesthetic delights. The Golden Section, which appears at the center of it all, might be the basis of Nature’s most beautiful ratio, as well as the very link that keeps everything together through ratio, resonance, and self-similar harmony on all levels.

Students will learn how the Golden Section, or Divine Proportion, is the fundamental source of Nature’s Eurhythmic Principles of Design in this rigorous study. Scott and Lance will show how the golden mean can be found in everything from DNA, plants, animals, people, and the solar system to music, quarks, pyramids, and hurricanes. The Golden Section’s omnipresent presence in all things, known to Plato and the initiates of classical Greece, offers the means for our progressive unfoldment into higher levels of awareness, in what the ancients referred to as initiation into the mysteries.

A special evening with Scott and Lance will include a visual display as well as a lecture/discussion.

Topic of the Lecture: Divine Proportion and the New Renaissance

NEW INSIGHTS into the dominant function of the DIVINE PROPORTION are sweeping the worlds of science and aesthetics. For example, on January 7, 2010, scientists from England and Germany presented their empirical discovery of the Golden Section as the symmetry principle at the heart of Quantum Mechanics. In this visual presentation and conversation, we will look at both ancient traditions and new STUNNING DISCOVERIES about the underlying importance of a GOLDEN SECTION focused SYSTEM OF DYNAMIC SYMMETRY.

It now appears to be central to PHYSICS (including winding number, fine structure constant, and quark masses), BIOLOGY (including PLANT PHYLLOTAXIS, GENETICS, and DNA structure), HEART physiology, COMPUTER technology, ENCRYPTION, ASTRONOMY, MUSIC, WEATHER TURBULENCE, BEAUTY, and the unfolding of CONSCIOUSNESS itself. Many researchers, scientists, aestheticians, and renowned intellectuals are beginning to see that the underlying MATHEMATICS OF HARMONY pervades all parts of existence. Sacred Geometry Principles: Theory and Practice

OLSEN AND HARDING WILL TEACH BOTH 2-DAY WORKSHOPS.

Long-time Keith Critchlow and John Michell pupils Olsen and Harding will teach you basic drawings and geometrical creations in both plane and solid geometry. We will investigate the seven transformative (infinite and irrational) numbers of sacred geometry, woven around an ancient Egyptian, Pythagorean – Platonic intellectual foundation and acknowledging Nature’s fractal principles of design. The basics and applications of the Vesica Pisces, Genesis Rectangle, and Golden Mandala will be discussed. The importance and applicability of the three Greek mean proportions will be discussed. Finally, participants will get a thorough grasp of the Golden Section, Fibonacci and Lucas numbers, and design concepts.

This 2-Day Workshop will address the fundamental ideas of Sacred Geometry. It will be an excellent introduction for those with prior knowledge or those who are fresh to the field. For those who are already familiar with geometric drawings and constructions, it will serve as a complete refresher and expansion of key new ideas. We will include the fundamental Pythagorean/Platonic insights of the most deep Ancient Wisdom taught anywhere on the earth into the workshop. In addition, we will demonstrate how to use the Golden Chalice Design Template. Participants will get a solid foundation in both geometric sketching and 3-dimensional model creation. This first workshop will cover all of the required history and prerequisites for the second Advanced Workshop.

Day 3

Scott A. Olsen, Ph.D. and C. Lance Harding, Ph.D. will teach Advanced Principles of Sacred Geometry and THE CANONS OF HUMAN PROPORTION: THEORY & PRACTICE.

The perfect Canon of the Human Body will be our emphasis utilizing holy geometry. Participants will become acquainted with canons from ancient Egypt (including the Old Kingdom, Amarna, and New Kingdom), Greek and Roman canons, Byzantine Christian, Medieval, and Modern canons, as well as Byzantine Christian, Medieval, and Modern canons. Individual canon studies from Vitruvius (and his 10 measurements of the man in the square and circle), Leonardo da Vinci (geometry of his man in the square and circle), Cesariano (two drawings of man in the square and man in the circle), Desiderius Lenz (his canon of male and female geometry compared with Vitruvius), and Le Corbusier will be examined and used (golden proportion modular). Finally, we will look at Harding’s use of the Golden Mandala in many historical works of art and design, as well as Olsen’s building of the Golden Chalice of Orion (fusing together,,,,,, and 1/) in a highly practical design template.

Participants should bring a sketchpad, straight-edge, decent set of compasses (in American lingo simply called a compass), and pencils (regular & colored), as well as pens, sharpener & eraser, transparency paper, masking tape, and scissors to the workshop. We will have extra compasses, straight edges, and pencils on hand.

We will delve into the holy truths of the Canons of Human Proportion in this Advanced Workshop. These mysteries were disclosed through initiatory experiences in the ancient mystery traditions’ halls and temples. However, it was strictly forbidden (under pain of death) to communicate these incredible findings to the uninitiate. We will weave together what we know of these old mystery schools, as well as the profound insights and epiphanies engendered into the SECRET MYSTERIES OF NUMBER, having trained with the finest sacred geometers in the world, studied the ancient traditions, and undergone our own inner disclosures. Because “the whole Universe is enfolded into each portion,” as David Bohm used to remark, knowing the human canon leads to comprehending the Universal Canon. You will not want to miss this Workshop!
