The first follow-along session in this workshop covers how to sculpt a character bust from a sphere while teaching key ZBrush concepts like DynaMesh and how to employ subdivision levels efficiently, as well as demystifying the ZBrush interface and navigation. Subsequent chapters delve deeper into a more in-depth look at the ZBrush interface, including how to customize the interface and hotkeys, as well as explanations of 3D alphas, custom brushes, the InsertMultiMesh brush, Array Mesh functionality, the NanoMesh system, Vector Displacement brushes, and much, much more.
All of the exciting new ZBrush 2021 features are explored, including fabric, dynamic thickness, ZModeler upgrades like Edge Extrude, and the new MicroPoly tools. Madeleine also goes through how to approach hard-surface sculpting in ZBrush, as well as how to use polygon modeling tools like ZModeler, the Topology brush, and ZRemesher. Fans of 3D printing will also appreciate a chapter devoted to the process of preparing a model for 3D printing with the Decimation Master plugin.
This lesson covers all of ZBrush’s outstanding sculpting capabilities as well as its powerful 3D painting application. Madeleine takes you through PolyPaint, UV Master, and Spotlight, with thorough demonstrations of paint methods based on her more than 20 years of experience in the film business. The lighting and rendering chapters will also walk you through the process of creating final photos with LightCaps and HDR photographs, as well as how to render using the ZBrush to KeyShot Bridge. Madeleine also goes through the ZBrush Material menu and how to extract maps like Displacement, Normal, and Color, which are commonly used in film, TV, and gaming art pipelines.
