My name is Steve Ramsey, and I’d want to introduce myself.

I’ve been a woodworker for almost 40 years and host the famous Woodworking for Mere Mortals YouTube channel.

I began woodworking in 1978, when I learnt to turn candle holders on my father’s lathe.

Since then, I’ve created almost anything you can think of out of wood.

Home furniture, garden furniture, toys, handicrafts, store furniture, and even amusing small tasks like my “impossible” nail through wood trick are all included.

But these days, teaching people this marvelous art is my biggest delight.

That’s why I created Woodworking for Mere Mortals, the original “no frills” channel for woodworkers who don’t have large workplaces or a plethora of specialized gear.

And over the last decade, my channel has grown steadily, to the point where it currently has over one million subscribers!

And, as my channel has grown, many of my audience members have grown alongside it.

I’ve seen literally tens of thousands of viewers, many of whom began as utter amateurs, grow into confident, skilled woodworkers by following along with my projects.

And let me tell you, seeing it is immensely fulfilling and encouraging… When I see the fantastic crafts my viewers have created, I almost feel like a “proud parent”!
