Note: Stephen K.Hayes was one of the first non-Japense Students of Masaki Hatsumi of the Bujinkan and was also a student of Shoto Tanemura of the Genbukan and Unsui Manaka of the Jinenkan.
He played a vital role in the spread of the Takumatsuden School to the West under the guise of these arts being ninjutsu.
While he has many critics within the aforementioned organizations his importance to their schools cannot be discounted.
To-Shin Do was originally created as a basic self-defense program which could allow students to transfer into study of the classical methods associated with the Bujinkan.
Since that time it has become an art in its own right and has incorporated methods and teachers from other disciplines such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to increase the overall quality of its practioners’ skills in a contemporary setting.
