The hereditary propensity to vision impairments has not changed in the last 40 years. However, as a result of society’s sedentary lifestyle, unrestricted TV viewing, excessive video game play, and poor computer habits, an increasing number of youngsters are exhibiting visual problems at home, school, and play.

This audio is intended to assist professionals in understanding frequent visual difficulties in children (0-21 years old), what youngsters “see,” why they perceive it, and how to correct these visual obstacles. This course, which combines research-based lecture and interactive laboratories, gives attendees the tools they need to recognize and treat visual neglect, cross dominance, eye teaming, visual processing, and scotopic sensitivity. Correcting these difficulties eventually enhances the child’s quality of life by improving reading, penmanship, and playing.

Scott Berglund, OTR/L, MOT, is a certified occupational therapist in Wyoming who specializes in kids. He is a known expert in vision and movement, and he has been practicing vision and reading rehabilitation for the past ten years. During that time, he has taught Dyslexia Rehabilitation and Beyond Dyslexia classes in a variety of locations.

He has assisted in the development of reading rehabilitation programs for clinics in several states. Scott is a McInnis Assured Readiness for Learning, ARL Phonological Awareness, and the first Rosner Auditory Motor Program certified teacher. His study focuses on the relationship between the eyes, auditory system, and movement and its impact on reading difficulties.
