Shari Kim, PhD, CCDC, works as a trauma psychologist at Chase Brexton Health Care, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Baltimore that specializes in assisting the LGBTQ+ community. She founded Susquehanna Valley Community Mental Health Services, a nonprofit mental health clinic that treats survivors of human trafficking, complex trauma, and sexual exploitation.
Dr. Kim has been heavily involved in anti-trafficking activities in both Pennsylvania and Maryland, building community partnerships to work on meeting the complex needs of trafficking survivors and participating on several local task committees. She continues to work on Maryland anti-trafficking task teams. She also chaired the Pennsylvania Psychological Association’s human trafficking subcommittee and the York County Human Trafficking Task Force’s mental health workgroup.
Dr. Kim, a 20-year veteran of the mental health industry, also works as the American Red Cross National Capital Chapter’s chapter coordinator for disaster mental health services and has deployed to three large-scale catastrophes. She chaired the Pennsylvania Psychological Association’s (PPA) disaster response network, facilitating a collaboration between PPA and the American Red Cross to expand the number of disaster mental health responders in Pennsylvania.
