“Baguazhang is claimed to be T’ai Chi Ch’uan’s sister, the mother of the three ‘internal systems.’
It is one of the newest Chinese internal healing/martial arts that combines the finest of the Shaolin combat arts with the best of the Buddhism or Taoism fighting skills.
Its complexities are tremendous, and one may always uncover new methods from inside the intricate postures and actions that combine together to make the framework known as the Baguazhang form orkata.
Invented by one man, the form has gradually been added to and subtracted from until we have reached a highly advanced style of healing or self-defense that depends solely on the palms and feet for attack and protection.
The form emphasizes the stability of the stance and the flexibility of the waist, which is complemented by the powerful motions of the arms and palms while constantly being synchronized in the legs, waist, and upper body.
Bagua has the quickest footwork of any martial art.
Throughout this book, I shall refer to “dim-Mak,” or deathpoint striking, and some of the points employed in this technique.
Baguazhang is a dim-Makart character.” Montaigue, Erle
