Cultural and religious differences serve as a backdrop against which couples’ difficulties of commitment, gender and child rearing, family connectivity, and cultural allegiance play out. Mixed couples frequently confront difficult decisions at critical junctures in their lives. Participants in this session will learn to detect cultural and religious tensions, ferret out the cultural backgrounds of common couples’ quandaries, and assist clients in making educated decisions about the role that group continuity, family tradition, and cultural values will play in their lives.
Objectives of Education:
A conceptual framework for tracking variables of difference in intercultural partnerships is described.
To suggest three tools that can assist couples in making cultural adaptations and integrating their differences.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
