To what extent was I able to accomplish this feat?

When I was eight years old, my parents were forced to travel the country pleading with other schools to allow me re-enroll. When it came to fitting in, I was the odd man out.

Unfortunately, I fared so poorly on my primary school exit exams that I was denied admission to any of the secondary schools of my choice and instead had to attend Ping Yi. I struggled terribly in school, and I was consistently last in my group. I was unable to pass four out of the eight classes I was taking and quickly fell to the bottom of my whole class.

Not only did I perform poorly academically, but I was also physically unfit and emotionally unmotivated. I was a ‘difficult student’ because I lacked social skills, was often bored and uninterested in school, and seldom interacted with my peers.

I joined the Boy Scouts to make new friends and gain experience, but I was expelled after only six months because I failed the first and most fundamental requirement for membership. I didn’t even make another attempt.

My relatives were exceptionally bright and had access to the finest educational opportunities in the country, which only made things more difficult for us. It was because of this that I started to believe I was inherently uninspired, sluggish, and dumb.

Like many other troubled teens, I became engrossed in television and video games as a way to numb out and forget about my problems.

My parents, out of desperation and as a final option, sent me to an adolescent training camp for five days. And I had no idea that that moment would prove to be THE defining moment of my life.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a mind technology I discovered, and from that point on, everything changed.

In a word, I changed!
