Cultural and Linguistic competence (CLC) has gained attention as a potential strategy to reducing health disparities and achieving health equity in health care. This two part workshop will examine cultural factors that can affect health and health care, such as language, communication styles, beliefs, implicit bias, attitudes, and behaviors. Additionally, it will examine the cultural aspects that are important when serving the Hispanic/Latino community. This workshop will examine how cultural competence can affect delivery of services in your practice and provide tools to identify and overcome barriers to reduce disparities through culturally and linguistically responsive and unbiased quality care. Goals/Objectives of Presentation: At the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Part 1 = 2 CE

1. Define Health Equity and Health Disparities
2. Identify the Hispanic/Latino Community

Part 2 = 2 CE

4. Describe how culture can affect an intervention
5. Understand the concept of Implicit bias
6. Receive actionable steps to improve delivery of service
